The Severn Way

... from source to estuary.

A photo diary of our walk along the Severn Way, starting from its source on the wild Plynlimon plateau and finishing in Bristol.

The first section is 7 miles, heading from a carpark in the Harfen Forest up to the source and then back again.

We started in sunshine ....

..... but had to make changes at the source

It started off so well

Early stage of walk.

Still sunny and breaking out through the trees.

The start of the Plynlimon plateau, heading towards the source.

Not sure at this point whether to put on wet weather gear.

Now sure about the clothing change. The post marking the source of the River Severn.

Gill would like to point out that her trousers are not shiny because they are waterproof leggings: we left those behind and her trousers are soaked.

For those with hair, take note that a good soaking can make it go wavy.

Raised promenade to make some of the walk by the river possible for everybody and in all weathers.

The villages from Llanidloes to the Harfen car park were holding a scarecrow competition ...

... but sometimes you feel you are being watched.

Wet dog: spaniel to poodle in one downpour.
