The Severn Way

Stage four: Caersws to Newtown

DATE: 20th Oct 2018

DISTANCE

9.1 miles (Walked)

TOTAL SO FAR: 35.85 miles

On this stage, you (almost) immediately see the Severn at the start, but then almost as quickly leave it behind as you head out of Caersws.  You then don't really pick it up again till the very end of the walk.   Weather became amazingly warm and, in spite of cattle earlier in the pasture, we found a brilliant riverside (not the Severn) picnic spot.  Wiggy was in his element (quite literally).

ROUTE MAP STAGE 4

The route follows a path across pasture, some roads, a few inclines and a quick downhill run into Newtown.

Future stages look as if they will follow the river more closely.

Way markers and marker posts were much clearer, not least because you could often see the gateways ahead.
